Understanding Entities

An Entity in ITSI represents a discrete infrastructure object — a server, a network switch, a virtual machine, a container, or an application instance. Entities are the "things" that your services monitor.

Entities have identifying fields (like host, ip, or os) and informational fields (like location, environment, or owner). ITSI uses entity rules to automatically associate entities with services based on matching criteria.

Keep your entity data clean and enriched. The more metadata you attach (owner, location, tier), the more powerful your filtering and Glass Table visualizations become.
