Gathering Requirements

Before designing any architecture, the Architect must gather precise requirements: daily ingestion volume (GB/day), number of concurrent users, search concurrency, retention requirements, and SLAs.

These numbers directly determine hardware sizing, clustering topology, and licensing costs. A 50 GB/day deployment looks nothing like a 10 TB/day deployment.

Always plan for 20-30% growth headroom. If the customer says 100 GB/day today, size for 130 GB/day.
